This is what I don’t get....why would anyone commit fraud just to save and make a few dollars? Don’t you know your license is worth at least $5M?

Know any other pharmacists who got into trouble by doing fraudulent thing?

Wait, the CA BOP did a sting on this?! How do they have the time or interest to do so????

My guess is someone complained to the BOP. Most people don’t know that there is a moral turpitude clause to being a pharmacist.

They know it is harder to get rid of you once you are a pharmacist. So if you do questionable things as a student, you just gave them a chance to prevent you from being licensed.

Why do I feel like there is more to that story than what the person shared?

There is ALWAYS more to these stories.

The story doesn't quite make sense, so he bought a copy of the RXPrep with real NAPLEX answers, but then he sold it before he actually took his test? Why would anyone do that, I mean if he bought it to study for his test, then why wouldn't he wait until after his test to sell it?

But reading the story as it is, I can only assume he graduated from a newer RX school that accepts anyone with a checkbook, that (s)he was ill prepared for pharmacy school and barely passed, hence is why (s)he risked everything buying questions for the NAPLEX (although again, why (s) he turned around and sold the junk before actually taking the test doesn't make sense.)

Is this guy a licensed pharmacist in any state? If so, it sounds like (s)hould give up on ever going back to the west coast and be glad they got any job. If not, then why aren't they applying in every state? It's not clear if they have taken the NAPLEX yet? If they couldn't pass it 3 years ago without cheating, I find it highly unlikely they will pass it now after not being out of school for 3 years.

Yep... definitely more to the story. Just crazy how some one would even think of doing this. You should feel compelled to pass the NAPLEX on your own merits after 6 years of schooling...I wouldn't have it any other way.

He got in trouble for selling the book. And he sold it to the California Board of Pharmacy, lmao.

When you’re on the verge of graduating and you’re staring at your $300k+ in loans that have compounded over the last 4 years in school with the repayment grace period ending in just a few months, every penny counts and you will go to desperate lengths to make a quick buck or two to try and pay off those loans.

Why would they suspend you for 3 years and then deny it again after the 3 years is up?

Jesus Ive heard of pharmacists who have stolen drugs and had a lesser suspension lmao

If the story is true, the guy is a ******* but the state BOP really has nothing better to do ?

Yeah right..this guy did it because he thought he could make an easy buck. Selling copyrighted work is a huge risk since it is traceable. The board and rxprep can sue him. They can also press charges. If he has a felony on his record, his career is done.

After 3 years, he has to go before the board again and they will decide whether to lift or extend the suspension. Plus, it is public record so when someone google his name, this would come up.

So essentially don't sell your Rxprep book LMAO

Edit: but seriously, as mentioned above, there is more to this story that we're being told.

Here is another fool who got caught selling counterfeit clothing.

He “claimed” that his copy has the actual NAPLEX questions which means that he did not necessarily have the actual questions, only that he represented the RxPrep materials as such. This of course opens him up to another set of potential charges such as fraud and misrepresentation.

how can you buy questions to the actual test... isn't the test all new questions every year?

Imagine being the guy from your graduating class that couldn't get a job, not because of saturation or skill, but because of a sting on study materials conducted by the BOP, lmao
I agree with others that there is probably much more to the story. I'm guessing he was some how caught cheating or maybe arrested with a sex worker. Who knows. Until someone posts the meeting minutes from the BOP-cali all we can do is speculate. I DO NOT think selling a used RXPREP book with the title "contains real answers" is enough to do anything. Freedom of speech means he could argue "real answers" means real good answers to practice problems. OP was prob arrested with 20 stamp bags of heroin in his/her car or something more serious.

I'm not a pharmacist so can someone help me understand what I'm missing? This isn't the same as for example reselling Dr collins as a prepharmacy student? This was more than study materials?

Let’s say you graduate right now at age 25. You get an offer for 125k per year. You work until 65 and never get a raise. 40 years x 125k = 5M
u forgot about income tax and college loan payments and productivity costs from spending 8 years in college

Max out 401k every year and you'll easily have 5 million by the time you retire.

Also, not sure if you know this but you can quote multiple posts at once. You don't have to make 10 separate replies LoL.

Literally none of that has anything to do with “125k x 40 years”. Income tax exists for other professions as well. College loan payments suck but are temporary (subtract 200k or whatever loan amount you want from the 5 million if you want to) and exist regardless of what degree you get. And “productivity costs” (presumably you mean opportunity costs, but whatever) exist regardless of what degree you earn, assuming you want to compare apples to apples.
