Do teaching assistant credits count toward BCPM

Anyone know? Pretty irrelevant to current topics, but i'm wondering in case i have to reapply... i'm going to be a TA in a bio class next year and I'm wondering if AMCAS will count those credits toward bcpm... it'd be helpful to have another A (hopefully) to factor in...

I would assume that if you're getting credits on your transcript listed under Bio, they'd count.

I don't think I've ever heard of getting credit for being a TA though - I always got paid. That's interesting - do they give you credit for the class you're TA'ing (say Bio 101) or is it listed as a special TA class?

Teaching credits should not count toward BCPM GPA. It's under Education category (see instructions in AMCAS).

hmm i wonder that too..at my school it would be like bio whatever the class number is and a letter.

i ta'ed biochem at my school...there was a pseudo-class with teaching somewhere in the title, listed under bio...so yes, it counted towards bcpm. (thank goodness for it too 🙂

what does BCPM stand for?
biology?chemsitry?physics?math? [just a guess]

are classes like anatomy and pharmacology included if theyre not taken from the biology department?

I think Anatomy is counted for Biology. Pharmacology is counted in the Health Sciences. You're right about what BCPM stands for. You should check AMCAS for these questions.

So, Mr. Spark, Did you fill out AMCAS application with those TA classes under BCPM without any correction from AAMC pple? What does the title of the course say? Does it say Teaching Practicum?

Even if you're not applying, I think you still can download the manual and check. It's probably good if you have it, so you know which courses will be counted toward your BCPM GPA. I don't think Food Science and Geology count for BCPM. Only certain Psychology courses that have Neuroscience titles count toward Biology, otherwise they won't.

I to am curious into the original inquiry. Sorry for the old bump, but didn't want to create an unnecessary thread. I receive 3 credits listed as CHEM- Chemistry Teaching Internship. BCPM or no?
