hi all...do u have to practice with a dentist before applying or starting the dentistry school?? , i called 2 of my local dentists , but one of them said that I can start at the morning , which I cant 'cause i'm going to college at the morning , and the only free days I have are sat+sun , sat he starts the office 9:00- 5:00 , sunday the clinic closes. I have work fri , sat , sun ,..friday i start form 4:00-11:00 ...saturday & sunday 8:00-4:00...and no , I cant quit my job for financial reasons!! 😀 😛 😳
the 2nd dentist i asked said that he cant put me on his list 'cause his clinic full of people ( the people he got are doin' different majores that have nothing to do with the dental schools ,,,,,,and by the way all the employees in his office are females) ,,,and since i'm a guy that explaine why im " not on his list" .. 🙁 🙁 😡 😡 .anyway..I don't know if you HAVE TO practice with a dentis ..and does this harm your application to the dental school?

thank you !! :luck:

Dental shadow is not a must at most schools. The school that requires it will state clearly at its website such as Detroit Mercy and Tufts. However, if you are changing your career, then you must do the shadow. UT Memphis asked me to do it and they didn't care how many hours. I don't know how others did, but I just stand there to see a general dentist and an oral surgeon dentist consulting and working on patients. Because my application is under review now, I will write a report like a lab report and resquest a letter of recommendation from him.
