UCSF has a waitlist that will be released in mid-February. You will be given a priority number via email. I remember they waitlisted a lot of applicants (up to like 50...?). They will update you with the movement of waitlist once in a while and will call you if you are accepted from the waitlist.
i don't know when they start sending second round of interviews but the last interviews held last year were around end of january (and maybe one in the early february).
From my experience last year, Michigan sent invitation to the person who was wait-listed, asking the person to confirm whether or not he/she would like to be wait listed. (some time late Jan. or mid-Feb.) No number was given. The offers were made in waves, the last offer made for my class seemed to be in April.
