So basically I'm taking ridiculously time-consuming classes this semester without having the time to devote to their study (interviews, applications etc). I'm wondering, do undergraduate grades matter later on during your MSTP? I.E. fellowships and other things?

if you go to a place where labs are difficult to get into, prospective PI's may be interested in your cumulative undergrad GPA- they may also not care and assume you are good because you got into the program. Cannot comment on grant applications though. sorry.

No. No one cares. Once you matriculate, you'll probably never even think about your undergrad GPA again. The above poster mentioned a specific example, but in my experience, PIs will let anyone in their lab for a rotation, or do it on first-come, first-serve basis. They will offer a spot to the best students. This has never in my experience come down to undergrad GPA. But that doesn't mean there's not someone out there who would do that.

Internally at my school, undergrad grades have never come up.

Externally, however, that isn't always the case. When I applied for an F30 they want you to list all of your undergrad courses and grades. Not sure how much impact the grades have on the grant decisions, but they do see them.

That said a few courses your last year that are a little lower shouldn't matter much. As long as you don't get D's or F's, or tank your GPA, I doubt it would make much of a difference.

Generally, no - other than the occasional PI asking to see.

The only other time I've encountered this was a very small number of residency programs wanting a college transcript in addition to ERAS stuff, but this was certainly the minority of the ones I applied to.
