I've seen it happen once in the last ten years.Do waitlist acceptances still happen after a class has been seated?
Was wondering if this is a thing and if it is common
Nope.Does this change based on what "tier" the school is in?
Aka would the class being seated at Harvard be less likely to have movement than the class seated at state school X?

But where are the people at the top tier going at this point? Skipping right to residency? Why is that? My impression was that waitlist acceptances will only happen at schools that have seated their class if their students get accepted from the waitlist at another school. Since poaching happens top down wouldn't that make sense?

Yes.But if you have already started orientation you aren't eligible, isn't that correct?
Acceptees have accidents and get hospitalized. They or family members get sick. In various ways, they are caught up in difficult personal circumstance and forget or are not able to tell the admissions office they won't be showing up. This could happen at any med school. Why is that?
