Depends if the air conditioner is working or not. Usually, I don't button it.
The correct answer is yes. So I don't have to tuck my shirt in.

is a smock one of those short sleeved white coat abortions that certain retail rph's wear? those are atrocious.
as far as buttoning a real white coat, always open, unless i need to cover up a really wrinkled shirt. it makes me look like i have metabolic syndrome if i button up.

Scrubs rule.
I never wear the ones that are ordered by the retail company. Always are too short. I custom order mine online, always has to be at least knee length.

The ones we got from school actually fit pretty well, but I'll most likely be getting my own after I graduate. My height:width is pretty far off from standard sizing. Plus then I can get long sleeve, rather than the ugly short sleeve that most stores have.Heh, I thought I was the only one silly enough to pay for my own coats.
I like RMF Shrubs. Cheap in both cost and quality; I care greatly about the former and little about the latter. Plus they are comfortable compared to the ones I can get through my school, something I also consider important.
I enjoy gardening now and then, but isn't this a pharmacy forum?

That's actually a great idea. Which company do you order yours from? Doesn't that violate your company's dress code since it probably does not have the company's logo on it?
I think the company is called AllHeart. There are a lot of selections, you just gotta look through them and find a material you will like the best. I get my name and "pharmacy student" embroidered on the white coat and then stitch on the school patch.
It doesn't violate my company's dress code. At the moment, I work at a nursing home at night. There are no executive bozos and whatnot walking around the place at night so we just wear whatever we want. Usually I'm just wearing a nice dress shirt and jeans.
Now hold on a minute. I wear what is officailly called a zippered tunic. Yes, it is short sleaved, white and has a zipper closure. I have been told by people mostly over 80 that I look like a real Pharmacist. People between the ages of 55 and 65 say I look like an old school barber. Anyone younger than 40 think I look like a dork. However, due to a twist in the company dress policy I can wear the zippered tunic with only a white t-shirt underneath as long as it is zipped up all the way. I opt for comfort always looks second.

This is officially badass!! Something comfortable to look forward to if I end up not choosing nuclear after I graduate. In nuke we wear long heavy spill resistant coats with long sleeves and tight cuffs , pretty hot depending on the temp in the lab.
They had blue zippered tunics for techs over at Costco.
We should, I like my blue zipper smock better than the white coats interns have.
I had to wear one of those a few months back they are so hot. It was one of the only times I have been sweating at 5 am!

haha...the 80 year olds that still refer to you as "druggist" and are probably wondering where the soda jerk is. i love it. if it makes you feel any better, i also despise short sleeve dress shirts...reminds me too much of a police detective, like in the beastie boys - sabotage video.
I've never liked short sleeve dress shirts, but the short sleeve coat over long sleeves looks even worse. Generally I don't wear the coat due to temperature, but I'm not required to wear it yet anyway. I know a few pharmacists who wear the coat with just a t-shirt under for max comfort, as has been mentioned. I'd definitely consider doing this.
