Do you enjoy EM or just the lifestyle it affords?

Lifestyle has been great for me. Money good, lots of control over my schedule, take 2-3 big trips a year with a handful of smaller ones. Have off 2/3 of the month.

Nights/holidays definitely suck. Don't really care about weekends tbh.

Clinical satisfaction?....meh. But I was the kind of person who was rolling my eyes at everything starting during MS3 year.

When things are clicking... i.e. we get a fun resuscitation that comes in, urine gets collected on time, rads reads studies quickly, patients aren't screaming in the hallways, my nurses get their IVs, consultants call back, ICU resident accepts patient without a temper tantrum necessitating my calling their attending, hospitalist accepts patient without abg/surgical consult/panscan...the shift can be pretty enjoyable.

Other times....it can be an absolute dumpster fire.
