What if you were working in a hospital and the absolute worse happens ex: a craze shooter, somebody takes the hospital hostage, a bomb threat what would you do? I watch documentaries a lot about people doing the craziest things and I know that some people blame doctors for the death of their loved ones and some seek revenge. I want to believe that something like this won't ever happen but what if? My dad always told me "prepare for the worse, so you can appreciate the best" so if you were in any of these situations what would you do?

Greys anatomy is not real life.

Well, you could also have a sudden massive pulmonary embolism and die while reading this. Or maybe a plane will fall from the sky. Why's this bad thing gotta happen at the hospital?

I watched a documentary on ER stories where the attending was taking care of a gang member and people from another turf came in trying to find him....but stuff like this is SO rare that its not worth worrying about. If you're that paranoid, practice in a cozy little suburb somewhere.

I'm not paranoid it's just that me and my mom were watching a similar documentary that's where my post came from because a hospital is such a "safe place" it's strange when things like that happen. Maybe I should've rethought this post

I never worry about stuff like this because life is too short.

However, if a situation like this were to arise, I really don't know how I would react.

STOP! DROP! ROLL!

That is as serious as my planning gets lol

I'm aware of that but I was thinking if random people can walk into a school and shoot 33 people what's stopping them from doing it at a hospital?

There's nothing stopping anybody from throwing nerve gas into the room you're currently sitting in, either. The roof of the hospital could collapse (ahem, Grey's), there could be a bomb in a patient (ahem, Grey's), the ambulance could get hit by a car (ahem, Grey's). None of those things are in your control, though. Hence, not worth worrying about.

Ok you're right....when did the roof collapse?

Once in while I do think about wht would happen if one of the calders's such as Yosomite or Mount Toba blew up with a force similar to 70,000 years ago Mount Toba caldera blew up. Outliers that are out of your hand don't or shouldn't have any implications on decisions you have to make.🙄😛

We all think of the worst scenario. But honestly you wouldn't really know how to react because you're not in the situation just yet, you can say anything that you are going to do when that happen though but that it's not a guarantee that you will exactly perform the things that you're planning.

came into this thread expecting a "...if you don't get into medical school" leaving this thread with a "son I am dissapoint" I highly doubt most people would do anything because when the crazy guy is running around with a gun, your gonna be ****ting your pants because you are so scared, not trying to remember what james bond did during that one movie that one time

You should always be prepared for the worst. I became ambidextrous at age 7 just in case someone chopped my right hand off accidentally. Other than that, I generally try to keep pepper spray, a stiletto, and a bike helmet around in case I find myself in an awk position. (E.g., If a bus driver with a shoe fetish tried to kill me, I could take out the stiletto and then pepper spray his eyes out. Or, alternatively, if a tornado were to strike my school during the middle of an exam, all I'd have to do would be to pull out my helmet to prevent serious neurological damage.) Learning karate and stripteasing could also come in handy if you were ever abducted by Japanese zombie dudes.

Good question. I just remember there being some problem with the plumbing, the roof caving in with a ton of water, and the surgeons leaning over an open body to protect it.

Truthfully, I've been in very worst case scenerios where it meant life or death ( I worked in law enforcement for 7 yrs). The only thing you can do is be calm and sensible. If you lose control you wont be able to think swiftly and it could cost you your life or someone elses.
