I really hate reading but I love learning information. Those this pose to be a problem down in medical school and how can i change this. I love listing to audio or video lectures on x2 speed and I learn so much then, but if its reading a chapter that is how I do very bad in a class. Btw my MCAT verbal was perfectly fine.

I've really never been able to read as a hobby and would take huge problem sets over reading a de-facto tome for class any day! ;D I love lecture though and I can't understand why people hate them (aside from 9AM ones,), so I'm with you there. 😉

I dunno if med schools have book work, though I've never really heard of lots of book work being an issue.

Different strokes for different folks. I love reading for fun, it's a nice hobby when the weather's too crappy outside to go running. One of my recent interviewers even recommended a book for me to read after I told him I read for fun.

No. That's why I'm probably one of the best damn speed-readers around. My best tip is to learn to speed-read and reinforce the material by writing down the most relevant points, while reading to make it interactive. It adds a mechanism to drill and reinforce yourself through the tedium that is reading and makes it less under-stimulating.

Not a big fan of reading novels. But I do love reading newsarticles and scientific literature. Textbooks are fine so I dont see my lack of reading as being a problem.

+1 for reading for fun. Avid reader of novels. Reading textbooks.. meh.

YES. It's so weird because I can read wiki articles about the most random things, then when I'm studying, I just can't. Actually, it was one of the reasons I did so poorly. I just got around it.

I love reading, whether it be works of fiction or non-fiction. I believe my love of reading has done more than just provide hours of entertainment, they've helped to sharpen my skills in written and verbal communication.

I like this quote from Tyrion Lannister in GoT: "My mind is my weapon. My brother has his sword, King Robert has his warhammer and I have my mind... and a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge. That’s why I read so much, Jon Snow."

Oh, absolutely! If not for things like rent and groceries, I would happily spend the rest of my life in a square yard of space with a stack of books.

Reading has been a hobby of mine since high school

TL;DR

😛

I LOVE to read, which is mostly why I chose to major in English. My favorite works tend to be from the Medieval and Renaissance eras. I read everything from epic poems and theological discourses to manga and sci-fi. (Yes, manga can be masterpieces too, if you know how to pick out the good ones from the bad and mediocre) I'm particularly inspired by doctors who are published authors too, like Siddhartha Mukherjee, Abraham Verghese, Atul Gawande and Khaled Hosseini. When I'm not hanging around the manga section at Barnes and Noble, I'm over at the medical books hehe. I love to write, so my other dream besides getting in to med school is to publish a work of fiction. I think it's awesome to love reading and writing. 🙂

Probably why your lyrics suck. Consider proof reading them..lol but back to the question..I have stopped reading for fun bc I already read so much for school.

Snoop's lyrics were better with the D.O.C.'s "help." It's too bad that car accident derailed his rap career.

Well Kanye west did rap through the wire..so car accidents are no excuse. He had so much potential.

Yeah, but Kanye's vocal cords weren't damaged during his car accident. He only had to wait for his jaw to heal. The D.O.C. barely had a voice after his crash.

No, reading is too tedious.

I prefer magazines/books that have a lot of pictures, like beach magazines, etc.

Aye. Avid fantasy reader, although I might not be allowed to say that seeing as I've never read Tolkein. 😳
