I don't. It can be tough to work throughout the day. But between patients I grab a bite to eat for like 10-15 minutes and then I'm off to see next pt. Also, I would hate to have an empty blob on my schedule if a patient cancels, so that's why I don't keep a dedicated lunch break; otherwise, my prodn suffers. It's unpredictable when a patient will cancel. So, it's better to fill the day completely and take mini-breaks in between when I can.

It depends on the day and how many hours you work. I do 1 short and 1 long. The long day has a dedicated lunch break, the short one doesn't. Most assistants and support staff don't want to work a 10 hour day without a lunch break. I don't either.

A lunch break is vital for myself. I get a 1 hour lunch break during the week and a 1/2 hour on sats. My BMR (basal metabolic rate) is pretty high .... so I need FUEL mid-day. I also like to get away from the office. I usually eat lunch outside in my car. Gets some fresh air. Listen to music. This allows me to re-charge for the rest of the day.

If I miss lunch for any reason ..... the staff knows that I will be "unruly" the rest of the day lol. 😉

One of the perks of being an ortho. Appointments are quick and easy to delegate. No surprises or long procedures.
