Yea...I got a post-interview rejection. SUNY Downstate, a school I thought was a "safety" (the biggest cliche on SDN). I think their average MCAT is 28 or so. You can check my stats on the rejection thread.
I know I did poorly on the interview, it was my first and I didn't prepare much at all for it, such as giving myself mock interviews and such. I always thought my answers would sound too canned if I prepared myself before hand.
Well when the interviewer asked me the "Why do you want to go to medical school/become a doctor?" question I guess my answer wasn't good enough because right after I finished he said something to the effect of me needing a better reason to spend the next 9 years of my life devoted to entering the medical field.
Still though, I didn't think I did so poorly that I would get rejected. Is it a crap shoot? I am starting to believe so. Well, I am waiting on 3 other schools and 3 more upcoming interviews.
P.S. Does anyone have the statistics of rejections/waitlists/acceptances for people after they interviewed at Downstate? I'd be interested to know. Thanks.
