Do you have an acceptance?
Started by DrSmiles12
im hearing from everyone here on SDN of getting acceptance and rejections. So far out of the 6 schools I've applied (UCONN, BU, PENN, Columbia, Harvard, NYU), I've interviewed at UCONN and BU, and rejected from Harvard (which I was expecting). And so far I haven't heard of an acceptance yet. What should I do? Is it still early to be worrying? 😕
If it were me I would almost contact the schools that you have interviewed and beg them. Well I wouldn't beg but at least tell them that you are really serious about their school and you reallywant to be able to go there. Whats your stats?im hearing from everyone here on SDN of getting acceptance and rejections. Your stats look just fine. When did you apply?
I like the fact that all of us 0 acceptance folks so far have voted for the I am confident I will make it in this year, and not the I think I am reapplying next year.
Keep up the spirit!

Dr. Smiles--
When you say to call and "beg" to those schools that you have interviewed at but not gotton in, what exactly do you mean? I have called a few schools recently and just inquired as to the status of my application. But if there is a subjective part of this whole process, where schools would let kids get in simply because of a phone call and a statement like "I really want to get into your school and I'm serious about [fill in the blank] " over other qualified kids, then that really bothers me. This is a long frustrating process. Kids are doing all kinds of things and if schools are going to base their decisions off random phone calls rather than stats/extracurricular/interview like they say they do, then they're basically lying to all of us and the few lucky ones who figure out the loopholes benefit. If that's true, then that bothers me because its unfair.

nmgator1,
One example, my friend got into two school this Nov 30th. He called the person he interviewed with at his #1 pick, who happend to be the dean of admissions, and told him that he would drop his other 2 acceptances and goto his #1 in a heart beat. He asked the dean if there was anything he could do to make sure that he got in there because he was so serious about the school and really wanted it.
You can do whatever you want, but he really wants into that school and wanted to let them know how serious he was. The dean told him to send him a message around the time they send the 2nd round of acceptances out so that he can include him in that round.
I think if you can effectivly communicate, without begging, that your serious about that school and prefer it above others, they will take that into account when they get ready to accept the 2nd round.
Does that make sense?
