I'm trying to do great (obviously) when I take the MCAT. Do you have any suggestions of the best way to prepare?

I have been planning on studying full-time for 4 months prior to my test date (probably 8-10 hrs a day). I don't know when Im taking it yet. Has anyone done this? Or do most people spread out their studying over a longer period of time?

Also, I'm pretty broke. I would rather save my money and spend it on applying to a lot of schools, than pay for an MCAT prep class. Do those classes really help?

I know these questions have probably been asked a billion times, I'm sorry but I need a little advice. Thanks!

If you have not done so already, best bet may be to browse through the "30+ MCAT Study Habits" thread stickied on the top of this forum.

prep classes aren't necessary if you create your own study schedule and are motivated enough to stick to it.

+$1600.

gosh i love throwing wrenches into threads.......

i say take the class, it's worth every penny just for the camaraderie and the motivational help. It SUCKS studying full time for more than a week, and you will soon find it very hard to stay on top of it. Do yourself a favor and pay the money for the class, it will make you study no matter what cause you dont want to waste the money.

as for study schedules and ideas, a search does wonders 😉 more often then not you will find about 18 threads on every topic you can imagine........ however, i tried to study around 6 hours a day for a few months before, breakin up study sessions for a workout half way through. Study opposites together every day (biology and inorganic on the same day, organic and physics on the other day, with verbal reasoning mixed in a few times a week).

I'm just curious what the philosophy is one studying opposites. I've never heard someone suggest this, but would like to know how/why/if it works.
