Hey, I have the habit of taking notes word by word during watching a online video lecture, I overthink a lot during taking notes and don't want to miss out any information to add up. But, eventually I ended up making messy notes of a large number of pages which are boring and time consuming to revise. Please help me with it.

Thank you.

I really enjoy writing down questions (with no answers) while pausing the lecture, then forcing myself to answer those questions immediately following the lecture to assess my understanding. Or, simply have free recall sessions following the lecture with no notes taken the entire time. I supplement with Anki by either using premade decks or simply adding in the questions I took, with answers first using my memory then with review of the lecture. This helps cut down time too since I'm using cued recall and have the questions made already rather than notes then questions into Anki.

-Use shorthand/symbols. Your notes only have to make sense to you.
-Use a tablet if that helps you not write in a messy way. It's been proven that handwriting notes is more effective than typing them--but whatever works best for you.
-Figure out what kind of learner you are and capitalize on it. I am a kinesthetic learner, which means that I have to make things tactile. But most people are visual learners. Some people are auditory learners. These things will help you commit things to memory more easily. If you don't know, you can take a quiz with a quick Google search.
-Don't worry about revising notes. CONDENSE notes. I would always make class summaries from my notes before the final (1-2 pages at most) and look that over the night before.
-Take advantage of your spare time to quiz yourself on concepts that you are struggling with e.g. standing in line at the grocery store, waiting at a red light, waiting on hold on the phone, etc.
-If u can explain it to someone else in an easy to understand way, you're golden.

Hope that this helped!
