Hello fellow psychs!

Now that its getting down to the nitty gritty, I'm finding my ROL is harder to make in the sense that (as Mosche has previously mentioned) I really don't want to put some programs down. I'm even thinking perhaps I'd rather scramble into something as opposed to matching at a place I'd be really unhappy at, or an area that I REALLY don't want to relocate to.

What about scrambling- has anyone thought about scrambling as well?

This sucks for me since it leaves me with a total of 3 programs and I really don't want to make my list that short.

How is everyone else going about this?

Poety, your dog is eating your child!!

Anywho...you know my views on the scramble 🙂

My main fear is having to scramble into a place I never thought I would end up in during match. Like some violent place in New York...or the arctic wastes of northern Maine, you get the picture.

It's a big risk.

5 Psych programs on my ROL...if I go on my last interview next week to Ohio State.

Solid, I'm sure youre going to do just great in the match. Now that this stupid thing is coming up, I'm starting to think more about the scramble. Whats sad is I cancelled a couple of interviews I may have liked - perhaps I should take htem up on their offer to reschedule them for Feb?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum, but I figured that I could put my two cents in as well. I'm currently planning on ranking seven or eight programs out of the eleven that I interviewed at. I have interviewed all over the east coast, and I still have two more interviews to go. Over the next few days, I'll try to post my experiences from the extensive notes that I wrote following each interview, but forgive me if it takes a bit of time as I am on a Neurology rotation right now. I still can't believe that I can post my rank order list next week. It's both exciting and stressful at the same time!

In general my school suggests that you rank at several programs that you are "comfortable" with on your interviews. I find this disconcerting because they appear to make it a process in which you may end up settling for something. I have worked too long and hard to just settle for an average residency education. I have spent most of my interviews trying to get a sense of whether or not I would get along with the residents and faculty. I'm glad to see that some people here are ranking based upon whether or not they will be happy. Four years is too long a period of time to be miserable.

Our dean's office covered this topic with us and I agree with their opinion: If you rank one you know you will hate you have a 100% chance of being unhappy, if you scramble at least there is a chance you will be happy!

I have lengthened my tentative to include all of those that are tolerable. But I may be scrambling - you never know.
