Do you need shadowing hours if you worked as dental assistant?

Some of the school requires shadowing hours and I am wondering if this is covered by assistant hours...😕😕😕

It may depend on if you were an assistant in private practice or at a dental clinic. For instance, I assisted at a free dental clinic with many different volunteer dentists and was told by one school I had to complete 40 hours private practice shadowing although I assisted 350+. I think this is just a unique situation, I would think assisting covers shadowing.
