for example I just realized Creighton doesn't take AP stat credits for statistics. I can take this in the spring or winter of senior year to meet the requirement, but does not having the class already done effect interview invites?

Not for most schools. There are a few that require prerequisites to be completed prior to application. And a few more that want them done by January of the application year. For the rest, you are expected to know their requirements and complete them by matriculation at their school. The proof will be in the final required official transcript you'll be obliged to send them.

Probably depends on a school. I will be applying to a school that requires a genetics class which I haven't taken. I will have to take it before I matriculate.

I just realized Creighton requires physiology, but I did not take this in undergrad. I also did not include any future coursework on AMCAS when I submitted it. I can still take physiology this term, but will Creighton even consider me now? especially since it is not indicated on AMCAS?

Yes, they'll consider you even though you didn't enter future coursework. It's your responsibility to be aware of their requirements and to fulfill them.

From Creighton's website at: Admissions Requirements | School of Medicine | Creighton University

The minimum educational requirements for admission to the School of Medicine are:
  • The completion of a bachelor’s degree.
  • All course requirements completed at an accredited institution within the United States or Canada.
  • All science course requirements completed at an accredited four-year institution within the United States or Canada.
Please note that all course requirements must be completed by June 1 of the entrance year. The Office of Medical Admissions encourages students to complete all academic requirements prior to sitting for the MCAT.

Required Courses
  • Biochemistry
  • Human/Animal/Mammalian Physiology at the advanced level*
    • Such courses will focus on the function of all organ-systems within humans and/or other mammals.
  • Statistics
  • English (Two courses)**
*Creighton considers Physiology courses that have a college biology or college chemistry prerequisite to be advanced level courses.

**Applicants may fulfill the English requirement by one of the following options:

  • Completing two college English courses.
  • Completing two courses designated as “writing intensive” and/or “certified writing.”
  • Completing a combination of college English and “writing intensive” and/or “certified writing” courses.
We understand that many applicants may not have completed the new prerequisite courses prior to submitting their AMCAS. Applicants are still encouraged to apply for admission to Creighton. However, applicants will be required to complete the prerequisite courses prior to class matriculation in the fall.
