I took Step 2 about 1 week ago and wasn't sure how I did. I am just considering all scenarios. I've heard that you don't need to pass Step 2 to start internship as long as you have graduated from a US Med school. Anyone know or have any experience with this?

i thought different schools had different policies.

Depends on your school's requirement for graduation and the program's requirements for starting work as an intern. I had to pass it.

My school doesn't require it for graduation but do you know the rules for the programs? Do they differ from program to program? Anyone have first hand experience with knowing someone who didn't pass etc.

Where did you get that information? It is not required for a training license in Pennsylvania. Only to get to PGY2. Only thing to get a training license in Pennsylvania is to graduate from an accredited medical school in the US.

first I was in the same situation as you. I thought I failed to the point that I started re-studying for the next attempt but it turned out that I had passes. anyway at that time before I found out that i passed, i called the nbme and they said that at their end that there is not requirement to pass the test prior to starting internship. if you have already matched then the programs that the program at which you matched have to offer the contract. I don't think they can rescind based on that. that is why i think some programs won't rank or even interview you if you haven't passed it by the time it is time for them to submit their ranks (that is why some programs did not interview me they said because i didn't take the step 2 at that time). still i would just wait until the scores come back and then if you fail then bring it up with your pd. if you do fail, I highly doubt they can rescind the contract based on that because of the match agreement. did you already sign a contract? if so then look so see anything about passing step 2. almost all places have contingencies on you graduating but if there is none about passing step 2 on the contract then you should be golden.
please feel free to send me a pm, i check it frequently
