Do you think it would be possible to do an online masters in education during med school?

I wanted to look into teaching. Not just clinical teaching, but classroom teaching, perhaps at community colleges. I see myself teaching maybe 1 or 2 courses per semester when i'm a lot older.

They'll hire you to teach with your MD. You'll have enough work and if you really wanna do it just get on that later. It's a terrible idea to do it now

Maybe if you had like a research yr built into your degree

So get your masters when you're a lot older. They don't have an age cap on those.

I know someone that got a master in science while simultaneously going to medical school. Not an MD/MS program.
While this is possible, it is ridiculously hard on the verge of being impossible.

Your residency training and attending job will be heavily involved in teaching; be it other residents, interns, and other health care providers. Not needed.

You need to worry about doing well enough in medical school to get into residency; and that is a full time job and a half.

maybe focus on getting into med school first

most online degrees are worthless anyway
Only way they aren't is if you work for a company that is willing to pay for the tuition of the program and can catapult you into a higher position with a good pay bump. Have a good friend in the pharma industry that got his MBA and Masters in Engineering in 3 years online. Got him into a 6-figure salary range with extensive benefits (company stock, pension with higher 401K match, etc.) But that was within THAT company only and had to work 60+ hours a week doing it. If he did it on his own, then it'd be worth nothing close to what he'd have to pay.

Nobody asked you.

You posted this thread on a public forum. If you don't like the tone of some of the answers, ignore them. Being petulant like a child is not becoming and does nothing to entice people to help you out.

I know a guy with an MS in psychology that teaches at a state school. He received no formal education training. With an MD/DO/PhD/(insert professional/doctoral degree) you can teach without any background in education.

No. If you had 36 hours in a day, it still wouldn’t be enough time.

Possible? Yes.

Smart? No.

Google "master's in medical education" and you will find a lot of programs, but you would typically undertake one after teaching for awhile (early-mid career).

Unfortunately for the rest of us, continually asking insipid questions is not a TOS violation. Going loose canon is.

I'm not sure what your problem is. You're consistently mean and hostile towards me (and many other members) all the time. I have a right to think about my future and fulfill my goals if they don't hurt other people.

I mean, I don't really care about what you say. But I feel bad for you because you're here on this site being mean to people that are probably half your age. It's just sad.

It’s not that you’re planning. It’s how you respond to people and how you ask a lot of questions that are either irrelevant or could be answered with a search.

Get a grip on emotions before pursuing medicine. You will have interviewers, coworkers, fellow students who are much more vicious than the infamous "Goro" lol...
