Do you think more physically attractive applicants get an edge?

If by "physically attractive" you mean well-groomed and well-put together, moreso than the other person, then I would probably say I'd pick them. If you mean more Paris Hilton than Rosie O'Donnell then...

In that case I'd probably pick the less physically attractive person because almost everyone else would pick the hottie because that's the kind of visually-driven society we live in.

I find your scenario unlikely, though. No 2 people are ever going to be exactly alike personality-wise in an interview. Something will set one apart from the other...something other than looks. That's why those little interviews give me nightmares lol

i hope so because people tell me I'm a cute premed. but i have to get those interviews first which may be impossible with my stinky stats. 👎

He even has a coffee stain on his pants lol

Once you get to the interview stage, do you think more physically attractive applicants have an advantage? If I were an adcom and only had one spot left and were considering what I felt were equally qualified candidates...I'd give the spot to the more attractive candidate. And if I interviewed a really hot guy...I just might be a little more inclined to let him in if his GPA and MCAT were decent. What do y'all think?
Looks only go so far. Swagger and charisma are more important.

looks do help

Yup, psychology studies already show that better looking people go through life easier and are treated better. I mean seriously... if you have one spot and have to pick out of two people and their stats are exactly the same then why would one pick the uglier person? May sound cruel but that's just one of the truths of life. Beauty wins. Every notice how a majority of the time people that hold high ranking positions are normally decent looking people and normally taller than average.

Oh man... it was so hard to read the second line of your avatar... but I had a feeling it was worth it, and it was. haha
