(3)....that you'll aim to be in the top 10% of your class?

(4)....that you'll be ready for Gross Anantomy (cadevers)?

(5)....that you'll continue to browse SDN once you're in dental school?

(6)....that you'll look into dental research as a first year dental student?

Here are my answers:
1. Yes, I definitely do, but if my ex and I get back together then obviously I would have to let that "someone" special to be just my good friend!

2. HELL YES!! I will party and party and party and still get 'em grades!! Lot's of dancing/grinding with a nice cold one!

3. Yes, I will try to do my best, but if I get straight "B"s, I'd be proud of myself!!!

4. Gross Anatomy....BRING IT ON!!!

5. I believe I will, I enjoy helping others and to share my experiences! (but not checking it 25 Xs a day!!)

6. Yes, I definitely will! I will try to finish my Master's (my current post-bac. at AZCOM has the option of completing a Master of Biomedical Science degree) while I'm in dental school, plus, I'm fascinated by research especially with Oral Pathology area!

Let's see, and these are retrospective answers, so you can see if they can be done:

#1 Yep, and we'll be married 5 years this June <img border="0" alt="[Lovey]" title="" src="graemlins/lovey.gif" />

#2 Yep, and my altered liver function tests will back prove it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> 😀

#3 Tried, although the fact that I went to a pass/fail school without rankings makes it so technically one will never know! :wink:

#4 Definately was, although the 1st cut was a bit anxious. And yes you get used to the smell real quick. And even scarrier, most folks will get real hungry after a sessions of dissection 😛

#5 Wasn't a web site while I was in school (boy that makes me feel old), but I encourage everyone to do so, even after you graduate and are in practice, because alot of the questions that you have now, folks will have in the future!

#6 Did it, got an abstract published and a trip to San Antonio to present the research. Some of the reasoning behind me staying that summer to do it had to do with the person that question #1 relates too 😳 😀

Ok here we go,

1. I already met that someone special and we got married 11 years ago. Barring the big D in the next four years I think things will turn out alright (after three years of marriage the divorce rate drops off quickly, after 11 we have a very good chance of staying together).

2. No, I plan to party a little but my rock star party status was completed in High School. I plan delayed gratification. After VCU I plan on taking a big boat to a small island.

3. It is hard to tell the future, trust me I try all the time, however. I might want to specialize in something, you never know what you will like, and if I do I want that option. A misguided, but fun, youth spent wandering around aimlessly (see previous section) slamming doors of oppurtunity, I discovered that it is easier in the long run to leave them open.

4. Other than all that memorizing latin names of stuff, ya I'm ready. I even bought the Coloring Book of Anatomy to spend my summer on. FUN and Educational!

5. That depends, if I allow myself three hours a day personal time and I pleasure read for one, and play N64 for one and a half and walk around gathering my sences for the other, that leaves me.... I jest. Of course I will, I had no idea what I was doing when I applied .... twice, I want to let others know what to do and answer any questions I can.

6. It depends on if I find anything that interests me. My #1 goal is to become the best/most experienced/fastest Dentist I can be so that I can hit the ground running after school and have smooth transition from learning to practice without messing anyone's teeth up (one of my biggest fears). The other, that I will concentrate too hard during a procedure and drool into my face mask.

I see you went to UConn, which is where I'm headed. What did you like most and least about the school? Any advice on where to live, how to tackle difficult classes like anatomy, doing summer research, or anything else.

And to answer Yah-Z's questions:

1) Already married almost three years to a great guy! I've heard LOTS of students get married during their dental school training.

2)I've never been a big partier, but I'll definitely make time to totally cut loose occasionally (anyone would go nuts without that I think).

3)I'll definitely aim to do my very best. UConn is pass/fail, so I won't know where I stand.

4)I'm trying to come up with a plan for tackling the huge volume of info we'll be hit with in anatomy. I don't think the cadaver or smell will bother me.

5)If I have time, I'll be here.

6)I'll definitely look into doig research over the summer between years one and two. I have a strong molecular genetics background (12 years) and I know I'll miss the lab. I'd also like to know that I've got a great shot at specializing someday and research will help me there.

(1)umm.... I am assuming you mean meeting one of my "classmates" as a potential partner, and my answer is I hope not. I see myself with a lawyer, writer, artist..something very non-science. So basically chances are since i will be spending most of my time with science peeps I will be a spinster.. 🙁

(2)Partay? I would hope for some socializing, trips to NYC and Boston to see all my college friends who i will be missing soooo much!!!

(3)My school will be P/F !!! yeah!

(4)I have no idea if I am ready for those dead bodies...I will have to wait and see.

(5)I am so addicted to this site, but perhaps I will be too busy to check it as often as I do now...which is not a healthy amount.

(6)Research is sooo important to me, and I will do it, if of course someone will have me (crossing fingers!)
