Do Your Techs Refract?

Was wondering if many OD's who frequent this forum have techs that do their refractions? If not, why not?

yes. i refine any aspects of it i feel i need to. im ready to get flamed by the COVDs now, but no one can argue that a 25y/o orthophoric -3.00OU needs my talents during their refraction. for added comfort, we purchased a wavefront autoref.

I am glad you got a wavefront autorefractor since your refraction is almost as good as the Ophthalmologist. Who knows, maybe your tech can do a better job at refraction than you. Throw away your retinoscope since you would know which way the sleve goes. Maybe you can prescribe from the your new wavefront autorefractor and have more time to see more patients.

theres not enough patients at this point for me to be that backed up that i need more "patient time". see "optometric oversupply"

You are not that busy?? Wow, I thought you were doing well in your PRIVATE practice. I guess when things do not go well, blame on others. If that does not solved your problem, pick up some practice management classes so you can make more money. Who knows, maybe your patients know something you don't.

You are quite new to the forum and you decide to take on Dr. Gregory and insult his practice... how delightfully immature. Between here and ODWire, I've got enormous respect for the guy, even if I don't always agree with him. I'd suggest you give it a shot.

my tactics at attempting to prove a point are admittingly overkill many times. i dont know - i probably would dislike me if i were a new poster.

I am not sure if an OD degree earn you automatic respect from the community. I always believe respect is earn and not given whether you are in a plain blue collar or white collar career. All I see is negativity about Optometry, about how we have too many doctors, about how corporate doctors destroyed the profession. I did not entered Optometry to make money. I love what I do and I hope my patients respect what I can do for them. I think after 15 years, I can say that I "earned" that respect from my patients. I do not want to insult anyone but one sarcasm deserve another. I think Optometrists are its worse enemy. I seem to get more respect from the Ophthalmologists I worked with than the one I see in this community. I like to see more positive posts so the new doctors will find hope and joy in this profession. I hope all of us rediscover the "true" reason why we entered Optometry. I still love what I do despite all the changes in the profession. I hope all of you are too.
