What do you guys think of DO's in Anesthesiology? Are there many that do it? Can a DO be in a group or whatever there called with a bunch of MD's? Thanks a lot for the help.

I think DO's in Anesthesiology is the best thing that has happened to it since the invention of the pulse oximeter. Perhaps I am biased though, since I AM a D.O. Yes, a D.O. can be in a group with a bunch of MDSs........and you know what? Some are even the chief of anesthesia in such groups; like me 😉

Are there a lot of anesthesiology DO's out there making as much as MD's?

AND

Are there a lot of DO's that are partners with MD anesthesiologists?

Thanks.

If they enter an MD group then they must take $100K less.

Dude, there is no difference b/w MD's and DO's.

Just individual personality differences among everyone.

You are opening a whole can of worms with this line of questioning. My finger is locked and loaded on the "CLOSE THREAD" button.

Do you mean "excelling"?

In my anecdotal evidence, I've never seen a weak DO, whereas I've seen weak MD's. At the same time, I've probably worked with - literally - about 50X more MD's than DO's.

Any differences are individual.

There's not much need for voodoo in anesthesiology so I say DOs should stick to cracking bones and making herbs and spells and potions.

"no difference.

next question."

I've got a friend from CA who's a DO. He told me he is expecting to have trouble practicing there when he returns from the East Coast this year. This was based on conversations he's had with groups in that state.

It's weird, though, as there are two DO schools in CA and probably a ton of DOs working there in general. Why would anesthesiology be any different?

Well, lots of DOs work in CA in general because a lot of clinic patients have self-limiting illness that won't be hurt any by cracking bones and making herbs and spells and potions. Patients in anesthesiology need their care, so its' provision has to be more tightly controlled.

Currently DO's are really making a difference by opening special bone manipulation clinics and courageously inventing penis hardening lotions.

sorry but anesthesiology is out of the question.

if you want to go into anesthesiology don't go to an osteopathic school.

HOWEVER, if you do want to manipulate strangers` sacrums to release their parasympathetics from their physiologic harness and bring about raging erections, then check out yer local DO school.

check the match lists on SDN from all the DO schools...it will show you exactly where we match....
Where on SDN can I find the match lists?

why would optometrists practice anesthesia? they should stick to the eye IMO

Thanks for the link. I did a search and came up with too many things to sort through. Is there an easier way to search for these type of threads or info?
do a search in specific forums where the results are more likely to show up...ie the pre-osteopathic forum or osteopathic forum....links to several of the match lists have been posted before in those
