This was posted on the Traditional vs Non-traditional threadm by me.

Swiper,
This is what is going on. Dr. Fitz and msufbl6 are docs. They have decided to join SDN (claim that they were asked to join) Whatever. Now, they go around to different forums asking ******ed questions. And then when they get ******ed answers from pre-meds...they bust out...with Oh, I am such and such and try to go around like SDN police or something. Little do they know or care that this a forum for pre-meds & med students...where WE can discuss anything WE want because this is what an anonymous medical forum is about.

This is what msufbl6 wrote on the DO vs MD thread after he asked a crap load of questions I am sure he knew the answer to.

"I always find it interesting when first year medical students advise physicians on the reality of medicine. Behold, a little knowledge is dangerous. I am reminded of a story, it goes something like this.

When I was a first year medical student I realized how little I knew when I was an undergrad. When I was a first year intern I realized how little I knew as a medical student. When I was a fellow I realized how little I knew as a resident. While in practice I realized how little I knew as a fellow. Now as Chief of Medicine at a little hospital with over 600 beds I realize how much I still have to learn from everyone I encounter.

I hope this will help lend perspective to how much both you and I still have to learn. This perspective has made my life much more complete."

You see how modest he is. So, I wrote.. "WTF, Is this what you are doing on friday night?' And they get all mad and stuff and start threatening with dumb stuff like "Oh, I tell your professor to say HI to you during orientation" HA HA HA. Losers. This is seriously what happens to the docs that have always had incompetent, ignornant med students to boss around to display their ignorance and humiliate. Now, they are probably nearing their retirement, hence, the increased activities like (triathlons) so they still NEED to teach and boss med students around. Therefore, now they wanna hang out on the SDN forums.

Lead your life as if someone is always watching, because someone always is!!

Well, you have at least one more month of not knowing you head from your backside to find out that you don't know your head from your backside. But good luck indebt4life, I'll ask your professor to come say hello from me during orientation. Dr. Fitz?s is a great tri-athlete at 60, married with wonderful children. You can only hope you will be competing in triathlons at sixty. I hope you can now, because it gets a lot harder even after thirty.

To "Chief of Medicine at a little hospital with over 600 beds" (I see how modest you truly are): thanks for the advice. Did I mention anything about knowing Medicine? I don't think I did. I think you read your HUGE ego into it. And anonymous student forums aren't exactly MEDICINE. I will be SURE to keep it in mind and please do say HELLO to me. It is such a nice friday night to TRY to strike fear and reprimand med students. Get a LIFE!!!

Then why did you start a thread about their posts?

it sounds like your ego, as a pre-med student, already rivals the doctors whom you're criticizing. it's a beautiful friday night - why waste it bitching about an internet forum?

prescribe yourself some of your own medicine and get over it.

Okay, I guess I have to go slow for you guys....I don't care what others write on SDN forums. I think that if anyone wants to make an opinion whether it is right or wrong..it should be heard. These jokers are trying to threaten SDNers by saying stuff like "when you apply for residency or I'll send your professor to say Hi to you at orientation"...You get it? Obviously, that's not right because then it totally undermines an anonymous medical forum. Do you understand? I don't have an ego. I was not even talking about medicine but one of them stated that I think I know more medicine than him. Is this clear enough? Why I posted it? Because they are going around acting like SDN police and asking dumb questions only to try to SHOW UP everyone.

Personally I dont think they're trying to show up anyone. They make valid points. Premeds tend to get cocky, sometimes they need to put put in their place. OP, think about how annoyed you get when a second year premed talks like he knows everything about the admissions pocess when he/she has never gone through it, or imagine how annoyed MS1/MS2 students get when current applicants talk about schools and curriculum like they know it all.

if you don't like getting shown up, the next ten years of your life are going to be really rough.

its lame if they are asking q's they know the answer to just to make people look stupid...

Exmike, I agree that people need to be put in the place now and then and medicine is designed to instill humility. But there is a time and place for that...specifically medical school...and lots of that too about ~ 10 years worth of it.
I would get annoyed by pre-meds that think they know it all but I would not threaten that pre-med by saying **** like "I'll tell your pre-med advisor to say Hi from me." You get the point. Because if I did I would have no respect for him/her or myself.

No, this is just what medicine has become. Who are these lame asses who say "we must crush everyone and MAKE them humble"? Letter to *****s: you can't MAKE someone humble. And if you're going to advocate humility, here's a hint: do it by example, not by trying to be the biggest jackass in the entire world and the most pompous prick that everyone has to walk around on eggshells for, snapping at medical students and residents who are trying to learn from you. People in medicine don't want to teach humility, they want to teach hierarchy, which is a totally different matter altogether. If only there was an "I flip you the bird" icon, I would put it right here for all the losers who believe it is their mission to "break" another person.

Kinetic,
I agree with what you stated (after reading "A Not Entirely Benign Procedure). Medicine is a hierarchy and as meager med students...we tend to fall pretty low on the totem pole. Some docs (attendings) I've run into are the nicest people I have ever met. But this is not the case with most of them. They are usually on power trips. As these two "supposed" docs demonstrate by stating how much power they wield over others..."chief of ? blah blah blah" Other aspects that need some attention is the way docs and med students treat nurses. They are an invaluable source of knowledge having worked in the field for a long time. Yet, medicine tends to look over them and not utilize them because nursing is considered a female occupation.

I have heard of certain Deans and Docs signing onto this forum but never was anything ever posted by them. This certain Dean is an honorable man and would not stoop so low as to try to belittle anonymous pre-meds.

It is sad that others get a kick out of making people feel ignorant but unfortunately that is one of the flaws of medicine. Like I said, these two ***** are probably missing that power trip (and probably coming in close to last on the triathlons) and need to get on SDN to try to get some of their medicine--power.

To the OP,

Are you certain that these people are actually who they say they are? Afterall, it is an anonymous forum. They could be trolls just yanking a few chains. It happens all the time. There are physicians who read this forum, but they don't behave like this.

If you or anyone else feels threatened by a poster, you should report it to a Mod. They can verify things.

closing. it is a TOS violation to start a thread like this directed at particular SDNers.

BTW: idq1i, lane, exmike, and TexasRose have made some good points.
