Not quite sure if this has been posted already, or if I'm posting in the right section....

Regardless, I am curious to know how some of you guys went about asking a doctor to be your mentor? I've had the opportunity to attend an excellent networking event & I have linked with a couple of doctors who I would potentially like to mentor me. However, would it be appropriate to first establish some sort of relationship with them first? You would think it wouldn't be rocket science, but I just want to make sure that I am going about this the right way.

In addition, what did you do on your end to be a good mentee?

Just get in touch and ask if they'd be okay with you shadowing them, the relationship will build from there.

Ok. Thanks, I appreciate it.

I emailed a professor/doctor in high school, talked to him, and have been talking to him ever since.

Ask good questions. Use their advice. Show gratitude.
