I am inquiring how to document by RA position on my CV. I understand that noting the type of research and supervisor are essentials, but I am bit fuzzy on the structure of documenting this on my CV. Any help would be great.

This is how I did it on my CV. I used professor and grad student CVs as a template. Most clinical faculty will have their CVs posted online that you can easily look over for examples.

2008-2010 Research Assistant, Project Name

Faculty Supervisors: Faculty names

This 2 year project was funded by ______ and was conducted in 2 phases: phase 1 involved interviews to assess sexual risk factors of Black young women who have sex with women and phase 2 involved the creation of an HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum based on the ______ curriculum and its pilot test

• Assisted with study design, data management, and data analysis
• Assisted with the design and creation of an HIV/AIDS, STI and pregnancy prevention intervention aimed at Black young women who have sex with women
• Transcribed interviews with Black young women who have sex with women
• Helped with training facilitators to deliver intervention

Note: I edited out specifics but you get the general idea. I guess you can also add the months you worked. Hope this helps!

The above looks great to me.

I have a related question. At what point (if ever) do you drop the research positions section of your CV? Are people replacing it with a list of publications, or keeping both in there?

Thanks for the tips. Very helpful!
