i withdrew from a course and took it another semester, do i still compute both attempts for my cumulative/bcpm gpa for amcas (it was just a w, no wp/wf)?

W's don't count on AMCAS.

However, at my school W's counted towards your year end GPA which was used for progression.

What does one have to do to get themselves a WF? Seems like such a dick move for the professor to give someone that instead of just a regular W. I personally have never seen professors not give a W even if the student was failing at that time. It maybe I am just misunderstanding when they actually use it, just never seen actually getting a WF.

At my undergrad, if you withdrew after a certain date you automatically received a WF. For an amount of time before that point, though, the instructor could give a WP or a WF.

A WF might be given if one registered for a class, never showed up, and never formally withdrew.

Err, I hope not.

I've dropped a few courses just because I disliked them (only get 1.5 weeks at start of semester to drop w/o showing on transcript). The two times I was on course for a bad grade I just sucked it up and took the bad grade.

I figured I might have to explain it in some interviews, but my university doesn't calculate it in my GPA...

A W or WP will not be counted in your GPA. A WF is the same as an F. If, on your transcript, you see just a W, it will not be counted against you. You probably won't even be asked about one lone W. Just don't let it become a habit. 🙂
