Hi all. Does anyone know if AMCAS accepts supporting documents attached to transcript by undergraduate registrar? For example, my AP credits are lumped together on my official transcript and a few schools I am applying to require that AP credit be listed with specific courses. My registrar has said they can attach a "verification letter" to my transcript listing the course-specific application of my AP credits. Would AMCAS accept this and include it in their verification process?

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but if the AP credits are on your official transcript, that's good enough for AMCAS. I had IB tests listed on my official transcript and I wasn't required to submit any outside proof.

On my official transcript, my school lumps all AP together as a certain amount of credits without specifying the courses satisfied by the AP credit. This is a problem, as AMCAS is then unable to verify the courses fulfilled through AP credit, only that a certain amount of AP credits were awarded. I have contacted individual schools, and they would require a letter from my schools registrar detailing which courses were specifically fulfilled by AP credit. I'm just going to take the first quarter physics class...and I'm a fifth year engineer. Shows you how ridiculous some of these verification processes are.

I went to UCSD for undergrad and they lump the APs together on the official transcript. I freaked out about this way too much while working on my app last year. AMCAS doesn't care. At all. Seems weird but they trust you to correctly report your equivalent coursework. Just follow the AMCAS guide for reporting AP credit and make units that you report for your APs add up to your lump sum of units.

The supplementary letter from your registrar will be necessary AFTER you're accepted (send it to the school at which you plan to matriculate) so they can verify that you meet their prereq requirements.
