I read this: AMCAS counts all "+" or "- " grades, even if your school does not. At some schools, a "+" or a "-" counts as n.3 or n.7, at others they count as n.5.

Does this mean they will count the "+" if it is on an "A"? My school counts "+" and "-" on everythign BUT an A.

oh never mind... i just saw the answer in their help file... the "+" doesn't count on an A. 😡

why do they give A+'s if they don't give you extra points? do you an A+ will help anyway just because they look good?

no amcas will not give you extra points for an A+.

I believe both A+ and A are 4.0. So, the pluses won't help you in terms of AMCAS gpa.

I don't think there are very many schools (if any) that actually give out A+ grades. AMCAS, I'm pretty sure, doesn't count them because that would be equivalent to above a 4.0 GPA.

Really? The University of California schools do.

Most schools that give out the rare A+'s still only give students 4.0s.

Same with AMCAS.

dude a lot of schools give out A+s.
and at some places like cornell...an A+ is over a 4.0, but AMCAS doesn't count it as over 4.0

Yep. A+'s are counted like A's. However, I believe the application system for DO schools gives you some extra points for A+'s.

does anyone know anything about DO schools? I haven't heard this until now.

Cal gives out A+'s but they count the same as an A.

I don't think DO application gives A+ more than 4.0.

I had some A+ on my transcripts and it didn't help my GPA (comparing to my AMCAS one)

haha, just because you have never got one doesn't mean they don't exist. They exist at every school and most professors give out A+'s if they think it is deserved.

bigbassinbob, you just epitomize the stereotypical premed with this post.
Well done!

They ignore A+'s, but those bastards sure like to nail ya on the A-'s!
