Does American licensing expire?

Hey all,

I am a Canadian dental student. I'm vaguely contemplating writing the American boards, but I don't really plan on moving to the US. I understand that the licensing itself may expire if you do not work in the country for an extended period of time. Can anyone tell me if that is true? Thanks.

Depends on the state. I know that in Florida you can maintain a license in inactive form indefinitely. You just pay the fee every year

I guess my question was wrong. I should really ask if I'd ever have to write the boards a second time, years down the road, if I decide to go work in the US after never having worked there.

Again it's state dependent. I know to sit for the Florida license exam you must have passed the boards within the last ten years. Can't speak for any other state call the board of dentistry in the state you may wanna practice in
