Hi Everyone,

I am curious to know if my LOR from my undergrad professor that is an MD count for the Physician LOR requirement for DO schools?

Will my application be recognized as complete and be reviewed by adcoms, if it does count?

Also curious in that: if I am using a letter packet service provided by my undergrad premed advising (where they will bundle all the letters together to send out)
how would this then be recognized as my physician letter(if it counts)?

Thank you!

If you are applying to schools that require a DO letter then no it will not be accepted in place of the requirement. If you are applying to schools that just want any physician letter and that professor has worked closely with you and can speak to your character, work ethic, and what makes you stand out, then yes it can be used.

What is this professor qualified to comment about you with a strong letter? If it's just classroom and not clinical work, despite having the MD degree, I would consider it a "professor" letter. Think strategically about your letters.

Institutional letters/packets at most schools supersede and meet all stated requirements for individual letters according to adcom policy. (So check your school list.)

This makes sense thank you.
