Or do all of the very few that do require it before matriculating? Some websites aren't specific on this.

from what i understand, most schools don't care, for example UCI even state this explicitly, u need 75%. hehe, but yea, unless u got a good argument y not take it?

I think there is a similar thread entitled such as that of yours, OP.

Biochemistry is required in a few schools, but strongly recommended with other high biology courses in most medical schools.

Take Biochemistry as a sole course over the summer. In my university, the class in itself feels like 2 Biochemistry courses crunched in one semester!

I think many schools list it under recommended courses, so it may be good to have.

Having taken biochem may also be helpful with the MCAT if you haven't taken it yet.

prob not required, but to be competative you should take it. my friends who have taken it have fared much better than those who have not.

I know all of the Florida schools require biochemistry.

I'm pretty sure only FSU and UF require it. The last time I checked, USF didn't require it.

On FSU's website, it used to say they wanted Biochem completed before application, but I've heard some people apply without it and take it before matriculation. I don't know how accurate that is though since I'm going by word of mouth. One of my friend's said her application was placed on hold at FSU until they received her Biochem grade, so maybe the best thing to do is call and ask.

UF and FSU do but Miami and USF do not. I did not take biochem and I am a Florida resident. USC (Keck) also requires biochem.

Yeah let me clear that up biochem required before matriculation....i didnt catch that part of the question. UF and FSU definately want it...USF and UM I though also required but I could be wrong.
