Hi y'all,

I know this is a LONG shot, but I was wondering if anybody would know of any osteopaths in Houston, Texas vicinity who doesn't mind having someone shadow them. I emailed the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association and they gave me a 5 names of D.O.'s with only their email addresses and I've emailed all of them with no reply.

Will it make me a weak candidate when I apply that I've tried to locate one but in vain?

Thanks ahead of time.

Be prepared for a LONG delay time in responses. I suggest that when you e-mail, you include a note that you will call their office to ask about setting up a shadowing appointment in 2 weeks (or whatever). I think it is easier to make the appt with the office, since usually the DO is happy to have you around, but doesn't get around to responding to your e-mail.

I went through the phone book, picked out three DO offices, and sent written letters to them telling them who I was and what I wanted to do. So far I've received 2 responses (after 4 weeks) and will be shadowing one DO this week. I also did the same thing with a local ob-gyn and had a good shadowing experience, but it took 6 weeks to set up.

im from the clear lake area and i've seen several DO's name around hospitals. there's one DO that i have gotten to know well and his specialty is emergency medicine. but if you are looking for some one that performs a lot of omm, he probably isnt what you're looking for b/c his patients are only temporary and have their own family physicians.
