USC sent us packets that must be completed by orientation of the top 200 movers. You have to fill out all this drug crap and have it memorized by orientation. It's to give us a "heads-start" or something.

Do others schools have you in school, before school starts? I want credit for this da#!*it!!

UOP didn't have anything like that 8 years ago, but I think it sounds like a great idea.

Since you already work in a pharmacy it should be cake.

I have about 12 assignments that are due before the end of July. It's just stuff like finding a pub med article, designing a spreadsheet with supplied data, designing a power point presentation, watching a lecture and taking a test on it, etc. They just want to make sure that we are proficient enough with a computer to get through school. Those who don't complete the assignments will have to take a day long remedial course before school starts.

What did "Precious Roy" used to say at the end of all of his skits on "Sifl and Ollie" (on MTV several years back)? OH yea....
SUCKERS!!!

No, I don't have homework BEFORE my first year starts. Hahhaha, that is awful. When school STARTS, I'll get some, but they won't even give me an intern license until our first day, so I guess they don't think it's fair... Reminds me of "summer reading lists" in HS.

Do u have to turn it on or have a test on it during orientation? If u don't, then don't bother, someone at usc during the first week will mail you out the answers and then u can just study straight from there. At the most fill in only the first 25, the professor only wants to collect the first 25 or talk about it. The rest, is just for exam purpose. If u want, I have the answers to most of them anyway. But some upper classman always gives the answers out.

You have to memorize the first 50 drugs before the orientation, next 50 drugs during fall semester and the last 100 drugs during spring semester.

Sounds like what we're doing at NVCP for the 2nd year. Every 2 weeks we will be tested on 20 new drugs from the top 200 fast movers. Each test has 25 questions, with 5 questions pertaining to drugs we studied for on previous tests...just to make sure we remember the stuff.

Looks like you're getting a headstart on me, Tri! 😉

is it required for EVERY pharmd student to memorize all the 200drugs? is it the first year or the second year where the memorization begins? What kind of stuff do you have to know for each drug(structure? mechanism? function?) What is the name of the pharmacy class that teaches the top 200 drugs? I would like to memorize asap, where can i go buy the book or name of the book? thanks.

Lizziebeth and BMB,

How's your study packet going?

Lyzziebeth has yet to receive her packet......

Apparently, it was sent out a while ago along with the stuff about the externship and such but I haven't gotten it. It was big hassle to try and get the lady in the office to re-send it to me 🙁

hey tri....

didn't they tell your interview session about that summer assignmnent? i remember thinking how sh*tty that'd be. sorry trojans.

UW is only requiring us to bring in 3 "good" drug information questions the first week of school.

I think that we have to show up. That's our homework. 🙂

wow you guys are so lucky....all they told me was that to come in with a blank slate...

when I saw your subject line, I thought you meant about the pre-reqs that some of us are still taking ... I haven't posted for a while, as I am finishing up my THIRD and FOURTH courses! But luckily, those have required very little homework

🙂

UCSF doesn't require any memorization. Just a butt-load of other forms for housing, medical, financial, etc ... that seems like more than enough to me.
