Something dawned upon me while I was driving home. Tell me if I'm right.
Obviously, with the new health care plan physician salaries are going to be cut. The number of patients specialist are going to see will be reduced, hence hurting them a bit more. Times are more trying now than they were before and cost of living will be going up for doctors, as well as everyone else in the US.
With that being said, why the hell are the people who are cutting the salaries of doctors raising their own salaries? It has been a trend, from what I remember reading, that every 2 years, Congress has voted to raise its salary by an average of 3000-4000. The reason that they state for increasing their salaries is the fact that cost of living is rising. Here's a newsflash Congress...IT IS RISING FOR EVERYONE.
And if I'm not mistaken, Congressmen have further benefits such as paid transportation and other things.
Also, if you look at numbers, law students are in half as much debt as medical students upon graduation.
I"m not trying to belittle anyone, or the work of law students vs medical student. Some congressmen do decline the pay raise, but that's only a very small portion. What my complaint is how can these people decide to raise their salaries just because the cost of living is rising? They're not in an isolated bubble where it's only rising for them, but it's affecting everyone.
