I really am wondering about this, obviously there is two types of studying. One, I better know every single little detail front and backwards for a test. Two, just to refresh knowledge and make sure you are sharp on some facts or just in general to look up something.

I ask this because I found myself in a dilemma. So I just recently bought a new game on Tuesday (if you play computer games, you probably know what I am talking about) but I haven't played it that much. Instead, I found myself wandering yahoo answers answering people about chemistry and biology problems. If I don't know the answer, I look up extensively into the subject so that I can get it right. I found this weird as of late, because I am a HUGE video gamer....well maybe I should say I "was" one. Now I like helping people real fast and at the same time keeping my knowledge skills sharp. My A&P professor always taught me that to get a A you have to apply knowledge, B is for understanding and C is for learning. I don't know if anyone else did this as a way to study (yahoo answers or likewise tutoring) for the MCAT also, it's out of the ordinary...but if you have a year until the MCAT ,like I do, hey it can't hurt and it's fun!

Just seeing others feedback 🙂

To answer your initial question: No, I usually don't study for fun. I love to play basketball and rock climb in my free time.

As far as mastering material is considered, explaining topics to others is the BEST approach in my opinion. For most of my physiology classes, I usually review the material with a friend before big exams. It helps us both fill in the gaps in our own knowledge and solidify the things we already knew.

Very true, I'm wondering if anyone did this for the MCAT as for conceptual ideas to help them out. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy adrenaline as I was in the Marines but I've definitely cooled down on all the same fun I use to have.

I'm a pre-med. Will be taking a gap year. I've been thinking about doing a physics minor just for fun during my year off but unfortunately it won't help my app so I probably won't have time to do it. I tried listening to free lectures instead of music when riding the bus, walking to class, etc but that's a miserable way to try to learn anything especially physics because you don't get any practice. One day...

I do it. I bought an anatomy and physiology book a while back just to start early.
