Does anyone have a list of Pharm Schools that look mainly at Science GPA?

Hi,

I'm a post-bacc with a pretty lousy GPA from the original institution (2.7). But I majored in political science, thus i didn't have to take any science courses. so now, in my post bacc, i'm taking all the science pre-reqs and i'm doing well (high 3's gpa, nearly 4). I'm just wondering, if i do well on the october pcats (let's say mid 80's), where are some schools that i could be comptetive? oh, i live in NC by the way. thanks in advance for any help you folks can offer.

I haven't ever heard of an institution that evaluates purely on science GPA. As far as I know, all schools have a list of prerequisites which usually include a fair number of humanities courses. I wouldn't worry about your GPA, because you are doing the best you can to raise your GPA through post-bac work and doing better. The adcoms will see that. Focus on your PCAT and you should be ok for many schools. Check the data provided by the schools and make sure you are close to the mean of students accepted and you should be ok.

Thanks Bingham, I appreciate it. I'll keep trying to up the ol' GPA, slowly.

The University of Arizona only looks at the required pre-req courses, personal statement, letters of reccomendation,l PCAT, etc when they offer interviews. They ask that you bring your transcripts at the time of the interview if offered, so they do not know that information until after the interview. I think they interviewed about 160 (only 350 applied) or so for this years class, and 90 were accepted. With that being said I would say at least 70% of the class already has a bachelors degree, and our average science GPA was around 3.7, so it is not an easy school to get into, but at least they are going to initially evalute the course information that is actually required. Their requirements seem to be a little more stringent than most schools, but the chances of getting in are fairly good if you have a competative aplication, of yeah and 20% of our class is out of state.

UF only looks at your gpa for their pre-req classes, i think
