But you knew that was a possibility, and a likely possibility at that particular restaurant. I don't understand why we decided it was a great idea to take the decision out of the hands of the business owner, in something that's a private interest, not a public one.
If I'm allergic to fresh cut flowers, and a nearby restaurant has fresh cut flowers on every table, is it my right to demand they remove them as they are a health risk to me? What if there's spotty evidence that my allergy even exists, and I may in fact just "not like the smell?"
This isn't really a good analogy because it is well known that second hand smoke is harmful to everyone. You're flower allergy is unique to you (and maybe a handful of others) and it would not make sense to change the rules for the minority. Politics (and Healthcare) is about appealing to the masses.
