If your high school record was not the best?

I heard that if you apply as a junior transfer to a university they look more at your college work and less at your high school work though some colleges STILL require it. Hypothetically speaking:

Say Joe finished high school with a 3.4 GPA, he had an upward trend GPA with an A average his final two years but his first two years he messed up. Now lets say Joe attends his local 4 year university (ranked tier 4 by US news and report), manages to get a 4.0 in his two years there, puts together a good resume and gets involved on campus there. Retakes the SATs and makes around a 2100 on them. Will he have a chance at any of these schools if he applies as a junior transfer?

Duke
Cornell University
Northwestern
UNC Chapel Hill
Columbia University
Washington University in St Louis
and Georgetown University.

Why would you want to go to dook?

UNC takes lots of transfer students, both sophomore and junior. A huge portion of those are folks who went to community colleges or minor state schools to prove themselves academically. I transferred in as a sophomore from another major university, but most of the other students I met at the transfer orientation were in your shoes. Good luck.

Edit to add, not sure there's much reason to retake the SAT unless you REALLY tanked it the first time around.

I transferred after freshman year and they didn't even ask for my college transcripts, so I guess it varies from school to school.

please keep all biases about schools to yourself

I made around a 1950 my first time around but want to receive my undergraduate degree from a more competitive university. Also a university a little far away from home.

Oh, I do apologize if I've hurt your feelings in the slightest way. It's so hard to tell over the internet that someone is humorless. I rescind my earlier comment, as it's now entirely clear why you'd feel at home at dook.

obviously you being bitter about Duke isn't helping me any in terms of giving advice for transfer admissions
