Does being a PTA help you get into a DPT program?

I've been wondering for a while, does one have a better chance getting into DPT school if they've been a PTA previously (with decent stats but not outstanding ones. 3.3 GPA, C's in some pre reqs, etc) ? Or would that be completely irrelevant on an application?

In my opinion, if you're already a PTA that could absolutely help you. On the other hand, if it's a degree you're thinking of obtaining before your DPT I don't believe it's worth the money to get your PTA degree and then have to spend money again to get your DPT.

Just my opinion!

We have one PTA in our class and it's nice to have her around to tell us what the "real world" is like ;)
