Does calling schools to find out why you didn't get in help much?

So I have gotten 4 or 5 rejections so far and am waiting to hear back from about 12 others. The rejections I got were not huge surprises but I am surprised at no interviews thus far. I remember seeing that after Dec 1 we can contact schools and ask why they didn't let us in. Do they give you any good information or do they just give you generic responses? I am wanting to know if there is something that schools universally don't like on my apps or if each schools just saw something different that they didn't like.

Definitely call. No question about it. Find out exactly what they want you to improve on and then do it.

I actually just sent emails and most schools responded to that. One school, however, told me to call for a more in-depth analysis but I didn't really bother.

I wanted to know what was holding me back in my application--DAT or GPA. I am on the lower end of the competitive average for both DAT and GPA, and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't my DAT, because if it was, then I'd have to take it all over again, which was a little daunting.

Best of luck though, and make sure you ask because 1, it shows interest which might help for next year, 2 you'll hopefully have a better idea of what to work on in the upcoming months to make you the best applicant you can be! 🙂

Good luck!

Do you mean email/call the schools that have already rejected or the ones that you are still waiting to hear back?

When should you plan on calling them to find out? Closer to February when its pretty much certain you are not getting in? Doesn't really seem like it would do much good to call right now since there is plenty of time for them to still accept us, at least for schools we get waitlisted on.

I am sure the schools are getting bombarded with calls today and tomorrow, so I would give it around a week before contacting them.

I will be reapplying too for the third time!! Now i am :scared: after reading your previous posts!! Your stats are good enough to get interviews but it's weird you didnt get any .where did you apply? what did you say on PS? Do you have all the pre-requisites with good grades?
