hey guys. i take rotc in highschool and they are offering college credits because i took rotc for 4 years. when applying to dental schools does credits matter to have a better chance to get accepted to dental schools. i can take 15 credits for 55 dollars each and they would give me a transfer transcript.

I'm not sure about the credits, but bad grammer would probably throw up a red flag.

lol true. im not american but when i read it again i saw that i repeated stuff like twenty times. thank for reply

Credits for what? Your post is a bit confusing. Explain your situation again in a bit more detail.
Also, your grammer does have some obvious problems. I sympathize with your situation as I know a lot of ESL students (my wife included), but make sure you work hard in college to perfect your writing. My wife is in her senior year and although her speaking is very good, she never read or wrote enough english and now she struggles to write a good paper or letter.

Saied: Earning credits from a community college is often frowned upon by D-schools, so it is best to avoid community college courses. And yes, it is required that you have credits from pre-requisite courses, before you can even apply to D-schools.

i will try to explaine this much more clearly with less grammer mistakes.
im in highschool and i want to become a dentist. i have taken 4 years of airforce junior rotc. the University of colorado is offering 15 credits for those kids who have taken ROTC in school. each credit can be bought for $55.
What i am wondering is whether i should buy these credits from them, because im thinking it might increase my chance for getting accepted in a good dentistry school.
btw i will be attending a Community college because my GPA was no good but im going to try really really hard in school and then transfer to temple or rutgers and then if i keep my GPA level high then i might get accepted to one of the dental schools.
yeah so should i buy these credits from this college?
thanks for reading this guys, and please correct my grammer mistakes. im willing to learn something new. 🙂

What will the credits show up on a transcript as? Are they actual college courses or something specifically related to ROTC (leadership classes, military education, etc)? It sounds like you completed the work already, so Univ Colorado is going to charge you $55/unit to just give you a transcript from their school with this work on it?

yeah. the courses are about leader ship education and stuff but since we are in highschool we dont get credits. so airforce signed a deal with the university. i think if u join ROTC in college they teach u the same stuff and then u will get credits. so idk will these credits help me get to a dental school?

It is probably not going to help you immensely, as schools tend to put much less emphasis, or even disregard high school records. But, it is definately not going to hurt your chance of getting in.
Hope this helps,

The only way I think this would be worth it, is if the Colorado transcript gives you A's in all 15 units and you need the extra boost to your GPA. As it is right now, doing the ROTC will help your application as an extracuricular activity only. Getting the college credit for it will ensure you have a transcript to submit to AADSAS and whatever effects that has on your overall GPA. Other than that it seems pointless, because you will already be able to put the ROTC service on your application.
BTW, don't sweat that you're going to a CC. Save some of your prereq classes (like Ochem and a few bio) for the university, get good grades after you transfer, and you'll be fine.
And if I understand the deal correctly, shame on University of Colorado for charging so much for this. $55/unit to give high-schoolers real credit for their already completed ROTC work is pretty greedy for a place of higher education.

i think if you have the money then just get the credits? more credits you have will give you earlier registration date? my university of like that. i registered earlier than other freshmen because i took a bunch of ap classes and CC classes before i went into my university.

as for helping you get into dental school? i have no idea because i am not part of the admissions commitee.

i would think it will look good on your application because it shows leadership. but like SanOnofre2002 you can just put that you did ROTC on your application when you apply in a few years. dont really have to spend this money.

thanks guys. have one more question. i will be attending CC for a year so i have agood gpa to transfer to rutgers or temple. i live right near it.
this upcoming shool year they are offering bio 1 and 2, and chemistry 1 and 2, calculas 1 and 2 and english cinposition. should i take the chemistry courses, cause i thought someone said dental school dont like to see people getting their classes in CC.
idk what to do. temple says u need a gpa of 3.0 and a minmum of 15 credits to transfer and im worried because if i dont take these courses i might not get in.
i know this isnt a highschool forum but my guidance counsolar never really wants to talk to me. so do u think i can get in temple just by studying calc 1 and 2 and english composition. im thinking of buying those 15 credits so it adds up to the credits ill take in cc
sorry if it confusing, im not really proficient at english yet.

thanks

i think taking a few classes at CC should be alright, however there are some dental schools that wont accept CC credit at all. i think tufts is one example.

i actually known some people that did most of their pre-reqs at a CC and still got into good schools. they just took extra upper division biology classes after they transfered to a university.
