For those of you who have taken the CBT MCAT already, do you know if the control+F works as a search function?

What kind of program do they use for the CBT administration? is it just on regular internet explorer (or an internet program liek that) or is it something where you cannot use keyboard shortcuts?

thank you!

that's a really good question.

also what type of mouse and computer screens do they have? having a mouse with a wheel is really helpful but if they have a wheel would the wheel accidently move your answer choice up or down?

Yeah I noticed that one of my answers mysteriously changed after I changed the answer when I was going through my online diagnostic, dunno if the wheel caused it or not though.

If the online AAMC practice tests are any indication of what the real MCAT will be like, then there is already a search box included in the program. I haven't taken the real MCAT yet though, so take that for what it's worth.

from the place I went to, they used the old 17" monitors. They weren't flat screen. Also, the screen had a flicker to it. The mouse wasn't a wheel mouse. I didn't use ctrl+F but I believe there wasn't a search function to begin with.

No search function. I think they're trying to keep it semi-consistant with the old paper exams. Not sure about the program they use... I think it's just some kind of test taking software that the testing centers use (as in not IE or a browser).

My test center had flat-screen monitors and mouses with scroll wheels. I didn't notice that the scroll wheel changed my answers.

I heard the example they give is misleading (ie. no search function, timer on different places, no text boxes, etc).

If they were keeping the CBT consistant with the paper based exams I really do wish that they had kept the line numbers so we wouldn't have to look forever for one word... or did they change that already?

crap, do they expect us to look for a certain word each time the question asks us to refer to a passage? that's gonna eat up time, especially because the verbal passages are longer than AAMC 🙁

any advice as to how to get around this?

I think the application runs off of IE, but I'm pretty sure they've blocked out Ctrl-F, Ctrl-P, etc.
