We have a newly promoted store manager who said now pharmacy staff reports to him

I'd slap him across the face with my paycheck and say that the paycheck says otherwise.

No, he is wrong. Both the Store manager and the Pharmacy Manager report to the District Leader....

That's one of the good things to work for CVS. Your FSM has zero control over you.
Hell, I'd be thrilled that some chump thinks he/she wants the buck to stop with them. I could do my work and never have to argue with people ever again. I'd just sick the front store manager on them.
"I billed the insurance wrong? Oh, let's look. Nope, it went right to Caremark like it was supposed to. That's the price they are telling me to charge you. Well, nothing I can do about it. Would you like to speak to the store manager? He's in charge!" Then I could go verify like 10 scripts I normally wouldn't be able to.
They would probably disavow any desire to have pharmacy report to them by the end of the day. Hell, end of the hour if some guy with an oxycodone 2 days early comes in.

When I first started I didn’t know much about metrics and sales. My first store manager was an ass and got on me about budget and how we need to sell scripts. Well after some messing around with KMI I found scripts and saw we were up in scripts lol I couldn’t pull front store sale so I asked the assistant manager at the time (position no longer at CVS) how front store sales are going. He said not good. I asked if he could print me the front store sales from KMI so I can gameplan with store manager lol he did, and they were down almost 10% for the year in sales. Took that **** to him and told him sell more snicker bars before coming back and telling me to get my sales up. He got pissed, contacted my supervisor at the time and we had a good laugh about his $2.50 online business degree lol don’t let those little sh*ts run you.
Remember you work for a company that needs Pharmacist’s. Store managers can be found on craigslist. This is why so many schools opening is hurting us because it also makes us more replaceable.

Tell him to go to pharmacy school or you will report him to the pharmacy board for practicing pharmacy without a license.

Long long ago when I was a pharmacy technician, Store front manager would have us count registers & would make pharmacy technicians responsible for upselling CVS item (I think it was a weekly "deal" item, i.e. batteries, candy, etc.). I asked him one week how would this be morally acceptable or optimal for someone's health to temp (often) diabetic customers with purchasing gummy worms or Swedish fish? I don't think he liked me much after that.

I did something like this at Target when our STL tried to chew us out after a customer made a corporate complaint.
We'd said "we're doing our best to help you out" to a TMHP patient who knew they had to request their state issued HIV meds 7 days before they needed them.
They'd waited until they took their last tablet before coming to the pharmacy demanding their meds.
They complained, saying it was condescending and racist to say we were "helping them out"
The manager started to lecture us on what was "appropriate language" with "customers"
I asked her if it's ever appropriate for the store manager to tell an obese diabetic patient that they shouldn't buy the cake and 12 pack of 3L Coke in their shopping cart.
In their dreams! Don't worry--they won't last long! Of course---we may be gone too! CVS is a hell hole!
