i heard DAT cover not only the pre-requiete classes but also it covers like MANY OTHER SCIENCE SUBJECTS... is that true???

that's sucks !!!

isn't it? DAT should be supposed to cover

BIO1,2
CHEM1,2
OR-CHEM 1,2 for the scicence part !!!!

why does it say " oh ~~~ DAT covers only these 3 science classes~~"

and then it covers more **** on the test man..

is that true????

cuz i am not in science major person who want to take DAT later !!

No, that is not true at all. The DAT tests the following: bio 1 & 2, g.chem 1 & 2, and o.chem 1 & 2 as far as sciences are concerned. However taking the upper level sciences will reinforce the basic concepts tested on the SNS on the DAT.

suck it up man, everyone else taking the DAT has to know just as much. plus the information that you learn in dental school is 10X the amount you need to know for the DAT. just put your head into it and you'll do just fine.

+1, DAT is not difficult, and dental school will be many folds tougher!

^ This is your answer. HOWEVER, the problem with this is that every professor inherently teaches the material differently, and depending on the intensity of your intro course, you may have skipped over some sections for the sake of time. Therefore, it'd be in your best interest to take upper level classes, just because the more you hear something, the more likely it will "stick".

The 3 science sections of DAT, 2 of them can easily be handled by a strong underestanding of general chemistry and orgo from just your undergrad courses. Those courses cover EVERYTHING about the DAT and then some.

The biology on the other hand, is a different beast. Every responce you get from this threat will be based on personal experiences. For MY personal experience. 25 questions are easy give-aways (meaning you can answer them if you watch too much discover chanell or just from basic high school biology), 10 questions are "thinkers", you'll spend over 1 minute to answer each one, and 5 will be "WTFs", meaning its high level stuff that just simply wasn't covered in your basic biology 1 and 2 courses. I still remember right now, when I took the DAT last month, 2 of my biology questions were asking about some specific things that if I hadn't taken physiology and anatomy, I woulda never been able to answer them..... The final answer to your question is "it ALL depends on the test version you have"... some versions will not require you to have higher knowledge than your basic biology 1 and 2 to knock down a 20 on this section, other versions will require more. In my opinion, the safest way to go is to take upper level sciences. Aside from my biology 1 and 2, I had also taken biochemistry 1, anatomy, genetics, pharmacology, and physiology. I got a 21 on the biology (95.5%).

This was my perception of the biology section as well.
