I'm probably going to get a B in this class. It's called Earth and Space Science about fossil fuels. It's under the "Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences" department (separate from physics/astro dept). Does it go under "Natural & Physical Sciences (NPSC)", which would be non-bcmp?

I took 2 astronomy classes and was told that they would not affect my sGPA since they were categorized as astronomy. When my AMCAS application was finalized, my astronomy WAS included in my sGPA.

no ; neither department or content would be BCPM even under astronomy extension
My ESS class did. It was physics based but the title wouldn't tell you that.

Exactly, it's either physics, math, chemistry, or some wild branch of biology. I'm failing to see how an astronomy wouldn't count as BCPM

Astronomy is specifically included in BCPM as of AMCAS guidelines.

The content of the class here by OP is a earth science about fossil fuels.
OP's capitalization threw me off. My apologies.

Seems to me like fossil fuels might come under Chemistry (my undergrad chem department had a couple experts on fuel from shale and solar powered fuel cells). You can try to code it one way or another but in the end AMCAS will decide.

Hmm. My friend tried saying hers has "nuclear chem" but they denied the change.. I'm hoping it won't 🙂.

yeah, earth/space science course is NPSC, which is non-science. it's more closely related to geology and meteorology than to astronomy

Hmm. My friend tried saying hers has "nuclear chem" but they denied the change. we didn't even do Chem. I'm hoping it won't 🙂.

if anything, calling anything nuclear chemistry may be confused with nuclear engineering, which is also non-science. earth sciences, geology, natural resources etc. are non-science courses.

If the class falls under the hierarchy of a chemistry or physics department/school, it might be included in BCMP. Not sure though.
