Does Fee Waiver Affect Interview Chances?

Hey everyone,
I received the ADEA FAP approval this cycle. In addition to that, I also requested application fee waivers from 5 schools.

I've been fortunate to receive 2 interview invites so far, but I just realized that both of them are from schools where I paid the full supplemental fee.Meanwhile, I haven’t heard anything back yet from the schools where I requested waivers.

Now I’m getting a bit anxious and wondering: Does requesting an application fee waiver negatively impact application review? Or is this just a coincidence and I shouldn’t overthink it?

Any insights from previous cycles or current applicants would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and good luck to everyone this cycle! 🙏

You need to name-drop the schools. It shouldn't make a difference, but we don't have a WAMC profile to be sure.

How long has it been since you requested waivers? If months, do not wait any longer to reach out to the schools in question to confirm whether you have been approved. If unsuccessful, attempt to establish contact with their respective admissions dean. Maintain professionalism and be concise whether via email or phone.

Thanks for your reply! All of the fee waivers I requested from schools have already been approved — I can see the status updated in AADSAS as well. So I don’t think there’s any pending verification on their end.

At this point, I’ll definitely stay patient and follow up if needed. Thanks again for the advice!

I would take it as a coincidence especially since you are have already been approved! It shouldn't preclude you from being considered otherwise.
