How difficult do you think it will be for me to get an asthma waiver for the dental HPSP scholarship?

I am a 21-year-old male, 5'11", 165. I have played sports all of my life, and I only ever needed meds to perform well in sports, not to get by. My last refill was in 2022, and I have not actually used them since 2021. I am in great health and can prove it if given the opportunity. My primary care practitioner already has my asthma down as "controlled".

Thanks for any responses.

Im pretty sure youre fine. I have a medical history of being on anxiety medication but stopped medication 2 years ago. I submitted my documents to MEPS and they were authorized for me to come in and get a physical exam, so I assume the military didnt see much wrong with my current history being under control. Regardless Ive heard stories of people getting waivers for much worse

That's great to hear. Thanks for your response. How much do you think a one-time past incidence of smoking marijuana will impact my process? (2.5 years ago, California resident)

Lol I think it has zero impact on your process. You dont need to disclose that and there is no way of finding out if you have not smoked in that long. However there is a zero tolerance drug policy and they do drug test you regularly I believe upon entering the military

Right right. What if I’m unwilling to lie though? Thanks again for the responses.

Bottom line it shouldnt be disqualifying if you demonstrate that you are not dependent on it and that it was a one time thing.
