I was at a presentation yesterday given by the associate dean from FSU Medical School, and he said that the MCAT wasn't their focus in admissions. They also don't screen for secondaries, nor do they have hard and fast cutoffs. They figure anyone with at least a 3.0 and a 24 (remember, these aren't cutoffs. He talked about somebody with a low 20 MCAT that was in the top 1-3 people in the class whereas somebody with a 30+ was on academic probation) can make it through medical school and become a competent physician. Their focus is on providing doctors that will help the underserved populations of Florida.
